1. Starting in 2009, Form 1 will be renamed as Year 7. (SPN21)
2. There are two types of tests/examinations:
- Internal Examinations, where question papers are set by school subject teachers and invigilated internally.
- External Examinations, where question papers and invigilators are from external sources. There are two types of external examinations, Penilaian Menengah Bawah (PMB) for Form 3 and the Brunei General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level
(BGCE 'O' Level) for Form 5. More information will be provided to students once they are enrolled in the school.
3. Students absent for any internal tests or internal examinations may resit the papers missed, provided a medical certificate or a written approval from the Principal is produced.
1. For year 2009, only Form 2, Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5 students will be sitting for internal examinations. Year 7 students will be sitting for a different format of assessment.
2. Internal examinations consist of:
- Mid Year Examination
- End of Year Examination
- Qualifying Examination

3. Examinations will contribute to 70% of the total average mark for the Promotion and Retention Scheme for Form 2 and Form 4.
1. There will be TWO assessments per year.
2. Assessments will contribute to 20% of the total average mark for the Promotion and Retention Scheme for Form 2 and Form 4.
1. Promotion and retention scheme is applicable only to Form 2 and Form 4 students.
2. The scheme is calculated as follows:

3. Students falling attendance (less than 85%) will be retained in their current Form for the following year.
Penilaian Menengah Bawah (PMB)
1. PMB Will be phased out by January 2010 and will be replaced by Student Progress Assessment (SPA) for the new SPN21 scheme.
2. Current Form 2 students ( in 2008) will still be sitting for their PMB by the end of 2009 and a resit in January 2010 for those who failed.
3. Students will be required to pay B$75.00 to sit for the PMB exam if:
- they failed their Form 3 attendance (less than 85%)
- they failed their Form 3 Qualifying Examination. Passing grade may vary. Information will be provided to students in due course.
- they are not Brunei citizens, that is, green ic holders
Brunei General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level
(BGCE 'O' Level)
1. Students will sit for their 'O' Level Examination in October/November.
2. Students will be required to pay for their 'O' Examination if:
- they failed their Form 5 attendance (less than 85%)
- they failed their Form 5 Qualifying Examination. Passing grade may vary. Information will be provided to students in due course.
- they are not Brunei citizens, that is, green ic holders
3. June 'O' Level is available for students wishing to resit any paper(s) that they have failed in their November 'O' Examination.
4. Fresh Form 5 students (that is, students who had NOT sat for their November paper), may request to sit for the June 'O' Level provided that they:
- obtained at least 4 credits in any subjects in their Form 4 End of Year Examination together with a letter of approval from the Principal
- are planning to study overseas. Students must submit a letter of acceptance from the concerned school and they will NOT be registered for the November 'O' Level Examination.
